As communities around the UK geared up to take part in Mitzvah Day 2017 – the country’s biggest multi faith day of social action – here at Sobell Rhodes we hosted a food collection. We are very proud to announce that our team made a fantastic contribution of 80 kilos of non-perishable goods to help our local foodbank.
Mitzvah Day is a Jewish led day of social action that brings thousands of people together of all faiths and all ages, to give their time to make a difference to the local community around them.
It is estimated foodbanks across the UK support more than one million people each year. In the UK thirteen million people live below the poverty line, with individuals going hungry every day for a range of reasons from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.
Making an impact on the local community is at the heart of Sobell Rhodes and we don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. Our foodbank in Harrow provides local people in crisis three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food. We were pleased to be able to take the opportunity on Mitzvah day to support such a worthwhile cause.
